Originally a 16th century Coaching Inn, The Angel Hotel retains a wealth of original features and is situated in the heart of the historic town of Midhurst. The front overlooks Midhurst's main thoroughfare while to the rear, the recently restored secluded gardens offer a welcome haven as well as magnificent views of Cowdray Castle ruins.
The Angel has always played a role in local affairs: the first floor Court Room was used for hearing the town's legal cases until the late 1880s. Today it is a popular setting for private dining while the Garden Room is used as a reception room for wedding parties. Both function rooms are licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and can accommodate up to 80 guests or 120 by adding a marquee.
Each of the hotel's 28 bedrooms have been individually designed and furnished with carefully chosen antique furniture and quality fabrics. From the cosy to the grand, all offer a private en-suite bathroom, colour television, direct dial telephone and some have four poster beds and original beams.
The quality of the food served at the Angel confirms the impression this is an establishment which brings together the best of town and country. Good food, impeccably presented and served, is central to the hotel's approach to hospitality. Contemporary british dishes, complimented by recipes from the Continent and further afield are much in evidence. Enjoy a quick drink or savour a delicious meal in the recently opened Bistro - The Halo Bar. Alternatively for a more formal occasion, dine in the main restaurant, recently awarded an AA Rosette.
