Reading Abbey is a large, ruined abbey in the centre of the town of Reading, founded by Henry I in 1121 who is buried in the grounds with a plaque marking his grave. John of Gaunt was married here in 1359 and Edward IV secretly married Elizabeth Woodville in 1464.
Forbury Gardens is a public park on the site of the outer court of Reading Abbey and is home to the Maiwand Lion.
