Born 1648. Died 1690 . Scottish Quaker.

Educated at Scots College in Paris. Returned to Scotland and became a Quaker in 1667. Imprisoned frequently for attending illegal meetings, found protector in Duke of York. Appointed nominal non-resident of East New Jersey. Defended Quakersim in much of his writing.
