Born on 29th of August 1911
Died on 5th of August 1982

Born 1911. Died 1982 - English orthopaedic surgeon.

Educated at Manchester University. Served as orthopaedic specialist during WWII. Pioneered hip joint operations, his centre at Wrightington Hopsital becoming world famous. Elected FRS in 1975, knighted in 1977.
