Leen Valley, Nottinghamshire

Leen Valley
Leen Valley is a wide valley set in Nottinghamshire, England. It was once an important area for the industries of hosiery; the industry of tights, socks and other leg wear; as well as the once booming industry of coal mining. Since the demise of these industries it is now more important as part of the Nottingham commuter belt. The name itself comes from a corruption of the Celtic word for lake, 'llyn' and the Anglo-Saxon word for pool, 'hllyna'. Recently it has been undergoing development to remove various culverts used to channel and redirect water as they are expensive and difficult to maintain.
