Born 1714. Died 1770 - English evangelist, founder of Methodism.

Studied at Pembroke College, Oxford. Became keen evangelist and Methodist. Made preaching tours of America, Scotland, England and Wales. Separated from the Wesleys and formed Calvinistic Methodists. Went to America in 1769, died near Boston.
