Born 1803. Died 1864 - English journalist and novelist.

Practised as a lawyer. Became Justice of the Peace and High Sheriff of Durham County. Founded the New Sporting Magazine in 1831. Wrote Jorrockís Jaunts and Jollities (1838), Hillingdon Hall (1845) and Mr Spongeís Sporting Tour (1853).
