James Laver
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Liverpool, Merseyside
Born on 14th of March 1899
Died on 6th of March 1975

Laverís history degree at New College, Oxford, was interrupted by service in WWI. On his return he won the Newdigate Prize for poetry, and continued to publish verse and other fiction thereafter. He is most celebrated, however, for his work at the V&A between 1922 and 1959, where he raised the status of the study of fashion history. His witty attempt, published in 1937, to codify the cycle of fashion change and the perception of fashion, known as Laverís Law, remains valid today.
