Studied at Newnham College, Cambridge. Worked as an editorial assistant and translator before writing her first book, Charcuterie and French Pork Cookery (1967). Subsequent books included English Food (1974), Jane Grigson’s Vegetable Book (1978) and Jane Grigson’s Fruit Book (1982). Married to the poet Geoffrey Grigson.
